In a thrilling development for fans of Esports, Pakistan and India are set to reignite their long-standing rivalry at the PUBG Mobile World Cup 2025, marking their first official showdown in nearly six years. The highly anticipated clash will unfold later this month in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the Esports World Cup, one of the biggest gaming events on the global calendar.
Pakistan earned its ticket to the tournament by placing third in the PMSL Central and South Asia Spring 2025 event held in Almaty, an achievement that saw them rise above tough regional competition. Representing the country will be 4Thrives Esports, a team that has become a rising force in the South Asian PUBG circuit.
On the other hand, India’s top contender, Aryan x TMG Gaming, recently clinched victory in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series 2025 Grand Finals held in New Delhi, securing a direct entry to the PUBG Mobile World Cup.
The last time these two nations faced off was in 2020 during the PUBG Mobile World League, when Team Free Style represented Pakistan. Since then, evolving tournament structures and regional bans had kept both teams from crossing paths. Now, with global qualifiers and unified rules, the stage is set for a truly competitive rematch.
This year’s face-off comes with even higher stakes. Teams will compete for national pride and a share of a record-breaking 3 million dollar prize pool. With 24 teams participating, the tournament will kick off on July 25 with group stage matches, and culminate in the Grand Finals from August 1 to 3.
Viewership expectations are sky-high. Pakistani and Indian fans alike are expected to tune in by the thousands, as this legendary rivalry moves from the cricket pitch to the digital battleground of Esports.
