Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, has reassured that the government is taking every step to ensure a smooth and well-organized Hajj operation in 2025. Speaking at a Hajj Conference in Islamabad, the minister emphasized that facilitating pilgrims remains a top priority.
Hajj Quota Increased for Pakistan
Pakistan has successfully secured an additional quota of 10,000 pilgrims for the upcoming Hajj season, bringing the total to 112,000. The increase—achieved through diplomatic talks with Saudi authorities—will primarily benefit private Hajj operators. Minister Yousaf clarified that no further quota expansion is expected at this stage.
Hope for Late Applicants
Responding to concerns about those who missed the Saudi application deadlines, the minister expressed hope that leniency shown to other countries might also extend to Pakistani applicants. He stated that Pakistan is ready to accommodate more pilgrims if Saudi authorities grant exemptions.
Pilgrims’ Payments Fully Protected
Minister Yousaf also assured that any funds already transferred to Saudi Arabia by Pakistani pilgrims would be refunded if needed. This move is meant to safeguard the financial interests of those who have paid in advance but might face uncertainty.
On-Ground Preparations Underway
With a personal visit to Saudi Arabia already completed, the minister stressed that arrangements are being closely monitored. “We are doing everything to ensure a dignified and well-managed Hajj experience for our people,” he said.
