The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) hosted a Handmade Papermaking Workshop led by Zahid-ur-Rehman at the National Art Gallery. Organized for over 100 students from the Art Society of the Foundation University School of Health Sciences (FUSH) Rawalpindi, the workshop provided a hands-on introduction to the art of handmade paper, highlighting sustainability and traditional craftsmanship.
Participants engaged in creating paper from recyclable materials such as waste paper, plants, flowers, and leaves. Guided by skilled instructors, they learned how to transform everyday items into beautiful, handcrafted sheets of paper using traditional techniques. The workshop was designed for beginners, offering a practical, do-it-yourself approach to learning.
“This workshop is part of our ‘Art for Therapy’ series, aiming to combine artistic expression with mental health benefits,” said Ms. Mariam Ahmed, Director of the Visual Arts Division at PNCA. The session promoted both creativity and well-being, aligning with PNCA’s mission to encourage art practice through community outreach programs like “Art for Therapy,” which leverages art to support mental well-being and foster creativity.
Participants left the workshop with their own handcrafted paper creations, reflecting their creative efforts and the focus on sustainable art practices.
