Raza Nazar, a Bachelor of Civil Laws (BCL) candidate at the University of Oxford, has made history by being elected President of the graduate community (MCR) at Trinity College, becoming the first Pakistani to hold this position. Nazar’s academic interests focus on constitutional law, jurisprudence, and political theory.
Raza’s academic journey began at Karachi Grammar School, followed by an International Baccalaureate Diploma at the United World College in Singapore. He then achieved a Double First in Law (LLB) from the London School of Economics (LSE), where he ranked 2nd in his year for Jurisprudence.
Beyond academics, Raza has been a trailblazer in leadership roles. He was the first Pakistani to be elected President of the LSE Law Society, leading the society to win the “Best Student Society” award in 2018. He also served as President of the LSE Pakistan Society and founded the LSE Future of Pakistan Conference, a developmental forum connecting ministers, academics, and students.
Raza Nazar has authored numerous articles, including a paper for the Oxford University Comparative Law Journal on a significant Supreme Court case concerning the tenure extension of the Chief of Army Staff. With his strong academic and leadership background, Raza aims to explore best practices for constitution-making in Asia and contribute to the scholarship on constitutional duties to collectives.
