In a landmark initiative, 80 schools across Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) will be transformed into state-of-the-art smart schools. This revolutionary project is spearheaded by the Federal Government in partnership with UNESCO.
According to official details, 40 schools in GB and 40 in AJK will undergo comprehensive upgrades. These upgrades include the provision of modern school furniture, the latest technological equipment, and extensive training for staff to ensure the effective use of these resources.
Sources from the Education Ministry highlighted that this initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and provide equal access to quality education for students in GB and AJK. By integrating technology and innovative learning methods, the project seeks to enhance the educational landscape in these regions.
“We are grateful for UNESCO’s valuable assistance in this project, which will not only improve educational infrastructure but also build capacity and promote digital literacy,” officials added.
Federal Minister of Education, Mr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqi, commented on the project, stating, “This historic initiative marks a significant milestone in our efforts to modernize education in GB and AJK. We are committed to empowering our youth with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the 21st century.”
