On Thursday, ride-hailing service Careem announced the launch of flexible pricing options for its services in Karachi. According to a press release, the new “Flexi Ride” feature allows customers and Careem drivers to negotiate and choose their preferred prices for rides.
The Flexi Ride option offers four categories: Flexi GO, Flexi GO Mini, Flexi Bikes, and Flexi Riksha. The existing GO Premium category will continue with its variable fare model.
During booking, customers will see a suggested fare that they can adjust. The selected fare is then sent to multiple drivers, who can either accept the ride or propose a counter-bid. Once the price is agreed upon, a driver is assigned, and the journey begins.
This feature is being introduced in Karachi following its successful launch in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan, where it received positive feedback from customers and drivers alike.
“The Flexi Ride option aims to enhance freedom of choice for both customers and captains by allowing them to set their preferred prices. Careem aims to provide a reliable and safe experience for all users,” stated the press release.
Careem Pakistan General Manager Imran Saleem highlighted that the Flexi Ride option has positively impacted driver earnings and offered them greater work flexibility. “We are confident that this service will make the experience more convenient and enjoyable for both customers and captains,” he said.
