Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated one of the country’s largest medicine warehouse projects on Wednesday. The Central Warehouse at Maraka will now provide free medicines to various districts. The CM has directed authorities to operationalize warehouses in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Multan as soon as possible.
Currently, nine warehouses with a capacity to store over 17 billion medicines and equipment have begun functioning. CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif personally drove a forklift to officially launch the project and monitored the departure of trucks loaded with medicines for distribution. She also inspected the furniture, medical equipment, and other goods designated for hospitals, ensuring the validity of the stored medicines and the effectiveness of the temperature control systems.
Provincial Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan informed the CM that the warehouse would provide the latest medicines and equipment worth over Rs7 billion for hospital upgrades, including furniture, disposable bedsheets, and other necessary items.
Additionally, German Ambassador Alfred Grannas met with the Chief Minister and commended the government’s efforts to create a favorable environment for foreign investment. The ambassador expressed continued mutual cooperation towards sustainable development goals and promoting innovation and technological progress. Discussions included potential collaborations in health, education, renewable energy, vocational training, and information technology. CM Maryam Nawaz assured full support for German investors and businessmen.
