Heavy rainfall in Lahore on Friday broke a 30-year record, with the Tajpura area receiving the highest amount of rain at 315 mm. The downpour began early in the morning and continued intermittently throughout the day across various parts of the city. Four heavy rain episodes were recorded, with Tajpura receiving the highest rainfall, while Lakshmi Chowk saw 170 mm, Nishtar Town 162 mm, and Chowk Nakhuda 155 mm. The heavy rain led to significant commuting difficulties as roads became waterlogged.
Apart from Lahore, periodic rain persisted in Sialkot and surrounding areas.
Earlier in the day, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and other parts of Punjab experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds.
In Lahore, the rain provided relief from the heat in areas such as Shadman, Gulberg, Model Town, Jail Road, and Ichhra. Gujarat and its surrounding areas also experienced heavy showers, along with Kanganpur and nearby regions in Kasur.
In Azad Kashmir, significant rainfall was observed in areas including Dadyal, Chakswari, Islamgarh, Khari Sharif, Jatlan, and Mangla.
Meanwhile, Karachi saw light rain intermittently since the previous night, creating pleasant weather. Gadap Town, Surjani Town, New Karachi, and North Karachi received light showers, while Federal B Area, Liaquatabad, and nearby regions also experienced light rain.
