Azerbaijan Airlines, widely referred to as AZAL, has announced intentions to launch direct flights to Karachi, Pakistan, beginning next month. A first flight is tentatively scheduled for April 18, and the news underscores the carrier’s commitment to improving connectivity between Azerbaijan and Pakistan in order to make it easier for passengers to travel.
Karachi will become the third Pakistani city to benefit from direct AZAL flights, enhancing travel possibilities and strengthening links between the two countries, AZAL stated. The debut flight from Baku to Karachi is slated for April 18, with services operating twice a week, offering travelers with greater accessibility and convenience.
The country’s aviation industry has seen several improvements, including the recent commencement of direct flights between Karachi and Kuala Lumpur by Malaysian airline Batik Air. In addition, American airline Ravn Alaska Airlines is interested in starting flights from Pakistan and has contacted the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Furthermore, Ethiopian Airlines has resumed operations in the country following a 19-year hiatus. Famous carrier Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has also announced flights to and from Pakistan, following federal government approval.
Although commercial airlines are expanding their operations in the country, Pakistan’s official carrier, Pakistan International Airlines, is poised to be privatized, with mechanisms now being negotiated.
