Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered a broad and harsh crackdown on the manufacture, sale, and acquisition of copper threads used for kite flying.
During a meeting on Sunday to address the law and order situation, she asked Punjab’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) to submit a daily report on crime control and police officer performance. The chief minister underscored the urgent need to enforce the province’s anti-kite-flying statute, emphasizing that simply registering cases is insufficient; offenders must be adequately punished.
CM Maryam Nawaz expressed her condolences over the terrible loss of a young boy in Sargodha as a result of kite flying and extended her heartfelt sorrow to the family.
