Swat Valley, renowned for its stunning natural landscapes, witnessed a remarkable surge in tourism throughout 2023, hosting a total of 449,000 visitors, including 4,000 foreigners from 108 different countries.
Deputy Commissioner and Director General of the Upper Swat Development Authority, Dr. Qasim Ali Khan, disclosed this noteworthy achievement, emphasizing the enduring allure of the region despite the challenges posed by the 2002 super floods.
In 2023, tourists flocked to explore various captivating destinations within Swat, such as Malam Jabba, Gabin Jabba, Kalam, Bahrain, Mahodand, Madyan, Marghuzar, and others. Notably, Swat attracted over 4,000 foreign tourists from 108 countries, including visitors from China, Australia, Afghanistan, Germany, and the United States.
Dr. Qasim Ali underscored the collaborative efforts of the Upper Swat Development Authority, the police, and the district administration in promoting tourism. Ongoing initiatives focus on introducing new tourist destinations and enhancing infrastructure and facilities to bolster the tourism sector, ultimately creating livelihood opportunities for the local population.
The strategic emphasis on promoting tourism aligns with broader economic development goals, leveraging Swat’s natural beauty.
