Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb revealed that Google is partnering with Pakistan to help transform the country into a regional technology and IT hub, underscoring growing international confidence in Pakistan’s digital and economic recovery.
Speaking at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce, the finance minister described the collaboration as a significant milestone in Pakistan’s journey toward technological advancement and global competitiveness.
Aurangzeb shared that he recently held a meeting with Google executives in Islamabad to discuss expanded cooperation in digital development, innovation, and skills training. While Google has not yet announced plans to establish an office in Pakistan, he said the company’s active engagement demonstrates a positive shift in global investor sentiment.
“Google is collaborating to make Pakistan an IT hub,” Aurangzeb stated, adding that the government’s reforms in taxation, energy, privatization, and state-owned enterprises have created a more favorable business environment for foreign tech investment.
He further emphasized that Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic indicators, stable fiscal direction, and focus on digital inclusion are making it an increasingly attractive destination for global technology partnerships.
Aurangzeb noted that Google’s involvement will help enhance digital capacity, support local startups, and fuel innovation-led growth. Expanding internet access and digital skills training, he said, remains a top government priority for empowering youth and driving sustainable development.
“This partnership is not just about technology,” he added. “It reflects Pakistan’s readiness to join the global digital economy.”
The minister concluded that the growing collaboration with Google signals Pakistan’s emergence as an IT powerhouse in South Asia, aligned with the government’s Digital Pakistan Vision.
