Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the launch of a three-day electric bus service to facilitate participants attending the annual Raiwind religious congregation.
During a meeting with members of the Tablighi Jamaat’s central consultative council, the Chief Minister said the buses would operate continuously from Lahore Railway Station and Allama Iqbal International Airport to Raiwind, ensuring smooth and eco-friendly transportation for thousands of attendees.
To ensure seamless arrangements, Maryam Nawaz directed senior officials—including the Deputy Commissioner, CCPO, DIG, and CTO—to personally inspect all preparations. She also ordered road repairs and patchwork on key access routes leading to Raiwind, along with the reconstruction of three major roads in the area.
A special cleanliness and sanitation operation will begin on November 1, featuring extensive cleaning efforts and rosewater sprinkling along the main routes.
The Tablighi Jamaat delegation welcomed the electric bus initiative and praised the Chief Minister’s broader public welfare programs, including the ongoing construction of 90,000 homes for low-income families across Punjab.
Speaking at the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said that serving the people is an act of worship, and requested prayers for Pakistan’s peace, prosperity, and for those affected by recent floods.
