The University of Karachi (UoK) has formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Karachi Alumni Association, Houston, Texas (UKAHA) in the United States.
This agreement is dedicated to offering “need-based” scholarships for two semesters to students across eight diverse departments, including international relations, economics, psychology, mass communication, chemistry, statistics, mathematics, and computer science.
Named the “UKAHA Academic Achievement Award,” the financial assistance initiative was officially established through the MoU signing, attended by UoK Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi and UKAHA Houston President Muhammad Azam Akhtar. Dr. Iraqi commended the alumni body’s dedication to supporting students, highlighting the global potential of UoK students.
UKAHA Houston President Akhtar recognized the university’s pivotal role in alumni success, expressing confidence in continued support and addressing inflation and living costs with an increased annual financial grant from Rs 500,000 to Rs one million.
This collaboration underscores the lasting bond between alumni and their alma mater, promoting a culture of support and acknowledgment for academic accomplishments.
