In a significant development for overseas employment, Poland has agreed to enhance cooperation with Pakistan to create new job opportunities for Pakistani workers. The announcement came during a meeting between Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain and the Polish Ambassador to Pakistan, Maciej Pisarski.
The minister highlighted that Pakistan’s exports to Poland—mainly in textiles, leather, and sports—were valued at $450 million over the past year. He also emphasized that Pakistan ranks fourth globally in workforce exports, with 742,000 Pakistanis going abroad for employment in just one year.
Ambassador Pisarski expressed solidarity with Pakistan over the recent floods and acknowledged the potential for Pakistani workers in Poland’s labor market. He assured that stringent measures are being taken to curb illegal immigration, ensuring safe and legal avenues for employment.
Looking ahead, Poland’s Foreign Minister is scheduled to visit Pakistan in October, where several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed, further strengthening bilateral labor cooperation.
Minister Hussain noted that pilot projects with Korea and Japan are already progressing, and the government remains committed to expanding safe, structured job opportunities for Pakistanis abroad.
This development marks a promising step in diversifying Pakistan’s overseas employment markets, offering new economic opportunities for the country’s skilled and semi-skilled workforce.
