Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced 1,000 Google scholarships for students from 10 public universities, emphasizing the importance of IT skills for securing employment in today’s digital economy. During a meeting at CM House, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Tech Valley and the universities, CM Murad highlighted the diverse range of IT skills—such as e-marketing, AI, animation, and web design—that empower youth to be self-sufficient and globally competitive.
The meeting also covered the deployment of Google Chromebooks across Sindh’s educational institutions in collaboration with the Education Department and Tech Valley. These Chromebooks, known for their user-friendly design and long battery life, aim to enhance the learning experience. Additionally, the CM was briefed on the success of the Maqsad App, which uses Google technologies and has significantly improved student test scores.
The MoU between the Universities & Boards Department and Tech Valley will facilitate the distribution of 1,000 Google Career Certificates scholarships, with half reserved for female students. The scholarships will be distributed among 10 public sector universities, including NED University of Engineering and Technology, Sindh Madressatul Islam University, and others. This initiative seeks to equip students with internationally recognized IT certifications, enabling them to compete globally and contribute to Pakistan’s technological growth.
