In the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24 final, Karachi Whites took control on the third day, scoring 238-5 in their second innings. Faisalabad struggled, managing only 124 in their first innings, losing their last six wickets early.
Saim Ayub made history in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final by becoming the first player to score both a century and a double-century in the tournament’s final. The 21-year-old contributed significantly with 109 runs from 179 balls in Karachi White’s second innings, featuring 12 boundaries and one six. Shan Masood and Asad Shafiq both notched half-centuries, with Shan scoring a rapid 51 off 26 deliveries and Asad Shafiq remaining unbeaten at 60 off 140 balls.
Omair Bin Yousuf failed to make any runs, being dismissed for a duck. Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed managed only one run before the end of the day.
In Faisalabad’s first innings, Muhammad Irfan Khan and Ali Shan contributed 32 and nine runs, respectively, while Ali Asfand and Khurram Shahzad scored five and three runs before losing their wickets.
Karachi Whites’ left-arm pacer Mir Hamza secured his 29th first-class five-wicket haul, and right-arm fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani achieved his career-best figures of 4-50.
