In a significant milestone for Pakistan’s transport infrastructure, the Federal Government has officially approved Rs395 billion for the construction of the much-anticipated M-6 Motorway. This strategic highway will span over 306 kilometers, connecting the cities of Hyderabad and Sukkur in Sindh, and is poised to become a vital component of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Eastern Route.
The approval marks a major step forward in Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its road network and improve regional connectivity. Once completed, the M-6 Motorway is expected to dramatically reduce travel time, facilitate efficient movement of goods and passengers, and contribute to safer, more reliable transportation across Sindh and beyond.
“This is not just a road; it’s a transformational project that will reshape regional development and unlock economic opportunities for thousands,” said a senior official from the Ministry of Communications.
The motorway will feature multiple interchanges, modern service areas, and advanced safety features, making it one of the most technologically integrated and user-friendly highways in the country. It is expected to stimulate trade, enhance logistics efficiency, and boost agriculture and industrial supply chains through faster connectivity to ports and major cities.
This mega-infrastructure project will also play a key role in job creation, both during and after construction, supporting local labor markets and businesses. With its alignment through economically underserved areas, the M-6 is being hailed as a catalyst for inclusive growth and national integration.
The project is not just critical for Sindh but forms a crucial link in the larger CPEC framework, connecting the northern and southern corridors of Pakistan and strengthening ties with regional and international trade partners.
As construction plans move forward, experts are optimistic that the M-6 Motorway will become a benchmark for infrastructure excellence in the country and a model of sustainable development under the vision of Pakistan’s long-term transport and economic goals.
