Pakistani drivers can drive in 132 countries with the introduction of an International Driving License (IDL). The process was simpler and not as discouraging as it was when applied to most people in advance of acquiring an international permit.
The IDL gains Pakistani drivers access to USA, UK, Canada, and Australia among the prime international destinations, making opportunities for traveling to both these tourists and expatriate alike.
To get the International Driving License, the applicants are expected to provide some necessary documents: an attested photocopy of his passport; two recent, passport size photographs; three photocopies of his valid CNIC; and a copy of his national driving license. Applicants over the age of 50 will also require a medical certificate, though applicants for Motorway Police license will have to obtain a blood group report to be attached.
This initiative is a big step forward for Pakistani drivers, paving the way to a little bit easier international travel. The government is aiming to enhance tourism by making travel easier for its people by issuing this International Driving License.
