The Pakistan women’s cricket team secured a thrilling victory against New Zealand in the 3rd Women’s One-Day International (W-ODI), concluding the tour with three wins out of six matches. In a remarkable match, Pakistan triumphed in the final ODI through a Super Over after the batters tied the game while chasing a target of 252. Spinners Nashra Sandhu and Ghulam Fatima each claimed two wickets, while Umm-e-Hani took one.
Ex-captain Bismah Maroof played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s successful chase, scoring 68 runs off 86 balls, supported by valuable contributions from Aliya Riaz (44) and Fatima Sana (36). This victory marked Pakistan’s first W-ODI win against the White Ferns, showcasing their record-breaking achievements on the tour.
Prior to the W-ODI success, Pakistan became the second team, following England, to win a W-T20I series against New Zealand in Kiwi-land, with a 2-1 scoreline.
The third One-Day match went into a Super Over, where Pakistan scored 11 runs, clinching the victory with spinner Sadia Iqbal defending the runs by taking two wickets. The closely contested series concluded 2-1 in favor of New Zealand after the second One-Day match, which the hosts won by chasing down a target of 221 with just 1 wicket remaining.
