Pakistan is set to make history by participating in the inaugural Women’s Blind Cricket World Cup, which will take place in November 2025. The matches involving the Pakistani team are confirmed to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, according to Syed Sultan Shah, Chairman of the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council.
Hybrid Hosting for the Tournament
While India has secured the overall hosting rights, the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) has opted for a hybrid hosting model due to logistical factors. Pakistan’s matches will be hosted in either Nepal or Sri Lanka. This decision was finalized during the WBCC’s Annual General Meeting in Multan.
Intensive Training Ahead of the World Cup
To prepare for the prestigious event, the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council will kick off a training camp in July 2025. The camp will begin with 35 players from across the country, narrowing down to 20 players for further preparation. A final 16-member squad will be announced in October.
Valuable Experience from Recent Tour
In a bid to enhance the team’s readiness, the national women’s blind cricket team recently toured Australia. This exposure provided invaluable experience and international exposure, contributing to the team’s growth as they prepare for the World Cup.
Anticipating a Historic Event
With the World Cup fast approaching, the Pakistani team is focused on intense training and strategy to make their mark. The matches in Nepal will not only showcase the team’s talent but will also emphasize the rising prominence of women’s blind cricket on the global stage.
