Pakistan’s booming tech sector has just marked a major win software exports have crossed the $1 billion mark in just 11 months of the fiscal year 2024–25, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). This represents a 27.4% increase from the $793 million recorded during the same period last year.
It’s the first time ever that software exports alone have crossed the billion-dollar mark within a span of less than a year and it signals how fast Pakistan is rising as a global player in the IT space.
📈 A Strong Surge Across IT and ITeS
Between July 2024 and May 2025, Pakistan’s total exports of IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS) reached a remarkable $3.47 billion, with the country on track to close the year just under its ambitious $4 billion target potentially landing around $3.85–$3.9 billion.
Here’s a breakdown of the key contributors:
- Software consultancy: $1.01 billion (29.1% share)
- Computer software exports: $534 million
- Call center services: $298 million
- Telecom services: $199 million
Industry experts say that software consultancy remains Pakistan’s strongest pillar, with increasing global demand for skilled engineers, developers, and consultants.

Muhammad Umair Nizam, Senior Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), credited the strong performance to the sector’s core strength in consultancy and customized solutions. He emphasized that Pakistani IT talent is in high demand and continues to shine in sectors ranging from fintech and health tech to AI and cybersecurity.
