Pakistan’s IDEAS 2024 defense exhibition kicked off in Karachi, featuring 550 exhibitors, including 340 international defense companies and officials from 55 countries. The event, running from November 19-22, highlights the latest advancements in both modern and traditional defense equipment.
One of the key highlights is the Haider tank, showcased by Anza Aqeel from Heavy Industry Taxila. The third-generation tank features auto-tracking capabilities, a remote-control weapon system, and a cruising range of 470 kilometers. It also boasts the ability to fire both day and night, with an autoloading system capable of firing up to eight rounds per minute. Additionally, the event will showcase the Shahpar-III drone, which is currently in use by the Pakistani military.
Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif emphasized that Pakistan’s defense exports need to align with the country’s growing potential. He also stressed the importance of integrating both public and private sectors in defense production. The exhibition also includes a “Startups Pavilion,” showcasing innovative technologies developed by young Pakistani entrepreneurs.
