In the financial year ending June 30, 2024, Pakistan exported over 1.126 million metric tons of vegetables valued at $430.055 million, compared to 1.336 million metric tons worth $300 million in the previous year. This represents a 43.20% increase in vegetable exports compared to the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Fruit exports also saw significant growth, with over 935,631 metric tons of fresh fruits worth $343.532 million exported during the last financial year. This is up from 627,133 metric tons valued at $283.188 million in the previous year, reflecting a 21.31% increase.
Overall, food group exports grew by 46.77% in FY 2023-24, with total food commodities exported valued at $7.369 billion, compared to $5.021 billion in the 2022-23 fiscal year. Conversely, food imports decreased, with imports valued at $7.903 billion during FY 2023-24, compared to $8.936 billion in the previous fiscal year.
