GUJRAT: In a significant boost for Punjab’s agricultural sector, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the launch of ten ambitious projects totaling Rs 400 billion aimed at supporting farmers, achieving this in a record six-month period. This announcement was made during the Kisan Cards distribution ceremony held in Hafizabad.
In a groundbreaking initiative, the Kisan Card system has now gone online, facilitating access for farmers across the province. With an allocation of Rs 150 billion, the government plans to increase the issuance of Kisan Cards from 0.5 million to 0.75 million. At the ceremony, CM Nawaz highlighted that farmers with land between 12.5 and 25 acres will receive free laser levelers, while those with over 25 acres will be granted free tractors. Furthermore, agricultural machinery will be available for rent to farmers at no profit.
During the event, CM Nawaz personally handed Kisan Cards to several farmers and emphasized the government’s dedication to improving agricultural productivity and enhancing wheat cultivation in Punjab. “We are committed to ensuring that bread and flour are accessible to the public at affordable prices while also securing a profit for our farmers,” she asserted.
The Chief Minister urged farmers to remain optimistic, assuring them of her support. She also reported receiving inquiries from individuals in other provinces who were eager to learn more about the projects launched by the Punjab government.
