Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the much-awaited Khelta Punjab Games 2024 will start in the province tomorrow. The main aim is to bring grass root sports to life by giving a basic ground to sportspersons who are below 22 years of age for their exhibition of skills in a designed competition framework.
The events will be held in three tiers:
Inter-club events from October 2 to 11
Inter-district events from October 16 to 29
Inter-divisional finals between November 2 and 7
With over 15,000 clubs and over a million male and female athletes, the event is expected to be the largest sporting gathering in the country. Participants will be competing in a range of sports including athletics cricket (tape ball) badminton football hockey kabaddi and more.
Besides, this project not only aims to find new faces but also provides ample prizes with over 10 crore rupees bestowed upon the winners and runners-up. The closing ceremony will take place at Punjab Stadium on November 7 where CM Maryam Nawaz will be the chief guest.
This is a crucial step towards empowering the youth of Punjab and enriching the sporting culture of the province, so that the stars of tomorrow are given opportunities today.
