The government has approved plans to launch a modern train service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, expected to cut travel time to just 20 minutes.
The service will run from Margalla Station (Islamabad) to Saddar Station (Rawalpindi). The Railways Ministry will provide track infrastructure, while the CDA will manage operations.
A framework agreement is set to be signed next week, with work to begin on a priority basis.
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi called the project a major public welfare initiative, while Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said it will ease citizens’ daily commute. Minister of State Talal Chaudhry noted it will also help reduce traffic congestion.
