The interim federal government has recently announced a marginal reduction in petrol prices, with a decrease of Rs. 8 per liter, bringing the new price to Rs. 259.34. In contrast, the price of high-speed diesel remains unaltered at Rs. 276.21 per liter.
Notably, the previous fortnightly review had maintained steady prices for both petrol and high-speed diesel. The fluctuation in petroleum prices in the country is largely influenced by international oil prices and exchange rates.
However, a significant factor impacting current prices is the petroleum development levy, standing at Rs. 60 per liter for both petrol and high-speed diesel. This announcement reflects the government’s strategic response to balance economic factors and provide relief to consumers amid the dynamic global energy market.
