In a significant move toward digital transformation in public services, the Punjab Transport Company (PTC) has launched a new online route permit system aimed at making transportation more accessible, transparent, and user-friendly for both commuters and transport providers.
Through the official Punjab Portal website and a newly introduced PTC mobile application, users can now apply for transport route permits and pay associated fees without the hassle of paperwork or in-person visits. This marks a pivotal moment in simplifying transport-related processes and enhancing the overall commuter experience in Punjab.
This digital leap not only streamlines permit processing but also lays the foundation for a much-anticipated next step: a fully digitized challan (fine) system. Once launched, this system will allow users to pay fines directly through the PTC mobile app at the time of issuance — similar to Punjab’s e-challan system operated by the Traffic Police. This will eliminate the previous time-consuming process of visiting National Bank branches for manual payment.
The initiative is part of the Punjab government’s larger digital governance vision, aiming to reduce inefficiencies, promote accountability, and make everyday public services more convenient for citizens.
By embracing modern technology, PTC is transforming how transport-related interactions happen — offering a glimpse of a smarter, more connected future where convenience, speed, and transparency define the public service experience.
