PM Reaffirms Commitment to Space Cooperation
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with a high-level delegation from China’s Galaxy Space, expressing Pakistan’s strong interest in deepening space partnerships. The meeting focused on developing satellite services and improving digital connectivity through joint efforts.
Focus on Innovation and Joint Ventures
The Chinese delegation showed interest in working with Pakistan’s national space agency, SUPARCO, and telecom companies to invest in future space projects. Both sides discussed enhancing research, innovation, and space-based internet services.
Building on Past Successes
This strengthened cooperation builds on the successful launch of Pakistan’s lunar satellite, iCube-Qamar, which was part of China’s Chang’e-6 mission. It marked Pakistan’s first step into lunar orbit, showcasing the potential of international collaboration.
Preparing for Astronaut Training and Moon Exploration
Pakistan also plans to send its first astronaut into space with training support from China’s space agency. Further, a lunar rover mission is expected to follow under the upcoming Chang’e-8 mission, placing Pakistan among the nations actively exploring the moon.
