Pakistan’s star javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, has secured his place in the finals of the ongoing Paris Olympics on Tuesday. In the qualification round, Nadeem launched a remarkable throw exceeding the 84-meter minimum qualifying mark, achieving an impressive distance of 86.59 meters on his first attempt. This throw not only clinched his spot in the finals but also showcased his extraordinary talent.
Athletes who make a minimum throw of 84 meters qualify for the final round, where they will compete for medals. Out of the seven athletes Pakistan sent to the Olympics, Nadeem remains the last and biggest hope for a medal, with six other athletes already out of their respective events. At 27 years old, this marks Nadeem’s second consecutive Olympic final, following his impressive fifth-place finish in Tokyo.
The medal round for the Javelin Throw event is scheduled for August 8 at 11:25 PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST). Nadeem has a strong track record, having won a silver medal at the World Championship last year and a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 with a massive throw covering a distance of 90.18 meters, making him the first Pakistani athlete to win gold in the competition since 1962.
