Opener Gull Feroza scored her second consecutive half-century, leading Pakistan to a comprehensive ten-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their Women’s Asia Cup T20 2024 match at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Tuesday.
Opting to field first, Pakistan’s bowlers quickly took control, limiting the UAE to 103-8 in 20 overs.
In response, Pakistan chased down the target with ease, reaching 107 without loss in just 14.1 overs, with 35 balls to spare. This victory significantly boosts Pakistan Women’s chances of securing a semi-final spot.
Openers Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali continued their impressive form from their previous match against Nepal, maintaining a strong unbeaten partnership of 107 runs. This marks their second century partnership after their 105-run stand in the previous game.
Gull Feroza reached her second consecutive fifty in 46 balls, finishing with a career-best unbeaten 62 from 55 balls, including eight boundaries. Her partner, Muneeba Ali, scored an unbeaten 37 from 30 balls, hitting four boundaries.
The UAE Women struggled against Pakistan’s bowling attack, with Theertha Satish top-scoring with 40 runs, followed by Esha Oza with 16 and Khushi Sharma with 12.
Pakistan’s bowlers Sadia Iqbal, Nashra Sundhu, and Tuba Hassan were standout performers, each taking two wickets for 11, 22, and 17 runs, respectively.
