The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast scattered rains in the city over the next 24 hours. In response, WASA Managing Director Ghafran Ahmed has directed the deployment of heavy machinery to areas likely to be affected and instructed field teams to prepare for rainwater drainage.
Ahmed also inspected various city areas and WASA disposal stations. The PMD has cautioned that heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in the local nullahs and streams of southern and eastern Balochistan. Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are affecting the southern regions, while a westerly wave is present over the northern areas of the country.
The PMD expects mostly hot and very humid weather across most parts of the country. However, rain, windstorms, and thundershowers are anticipated in Kashmir, northeastern and southern Punjab, and northeastern Balochistan during the evening and night.
Rainfall has been recorded in several cities nationwide. The highest temperatures on Saturday were noted in Jacobabad and Turbat at 46°C, while Lahore experienced a high of 38.5°C and a low of 28.6°C.
