A leading Chinese bus manufacturer, Yutong, has decided to set up a manufacturing plant for intra-city electric buses in Karachi.
Today, the CEO of Yutong Middle East, along with other officials, met with Sindh’s transport minister, Sharjeel Memon.
Speaking to the media, Minister Memon announced, “The work for the Yutong bus-making plant’s installation will start within three months.”
He further stated, “The installation of the bus manufacturing plant will be completed by next year. Yutong’s intra-city and electric buses will now be manufactured in Karachi. The plant will assemble electric and hybrid diesel buses.”
Minister Memon highlighted that the establishment of the bus plant will boost local industries and create new job opportunities. “Producing buses in Karachi will help save foreign exchange, and exporting these buses will also benefit Pakistan,” he added.
