Pakistan and Azerbaijan have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation in key areas such as energy, trade, connectivity, defense, and people-to-people linkages. These discussions took place during a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and visiting President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday.
President Zardari warmly welcomed President Aliyev, emphasizing the strong bilateral relations between the two countries and the potential for further improvement across various mutual interests. He stressed the importance of increasing interactions between the people and business communities of Pakistan and Azerbaijan to strengthen bilateral ties.
President Zardari also highlighted the strategic significance of Gwadar port, suggesting that Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries could leverage it to enhance regional trade, connectivity, and tourism. He proposed that such initiatives would contribute to shared economic prosperity in the region.
