Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Launches Roshan Gharana Program for Solar Power Systems
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the Roshan Gharana program, an initiative aimed at providing solar power systems to millions of residents in Punjab. Here are the key details about the program:
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Roshan Gharana program, households must consume between 50 to 500 units of electricity per month. This range ensures that both low and moderate energy users can benefit from the solar power systems.
Priority Recipients
In the first phase of the project, priority will be given to the poorest families. This focus aims to provide immediate relief to those who need it most, enhancing their access to sustainable and affordable energy solutions.
Cost Sharing
The Punjab government will cover 90% of the cost of the solar panels, making the program highly affordable for participants. Consumers will only need to pay the remaining 10%, significantly reducing the financial burden of transitioning to solar energy.
System Capacity Determination
The capacity of the solar power system will be tailored to each user’s needs. The ratio of electricity supplied by the government to that generated by the solar system will be determined based on individual consumption patterns, ensuring an efficient and effective energy solution for each household.
