Pakistan’s exports of products and services to China increased by 42.02% in the first eight months of the current fiscal year (2023-24) as compared to the same time previous year, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
Overall exports to China totaled USD 1.896 billion in July-February (2023-24), compared to USD 1.335 billion in July-February (2022-23), according to SBP data released in an official statement.
Year on year, exports to China increased by 20.60%, rising from USD 140.166 million in February 2023 to USD 169.041 million in February 2024.
Meanwhile, exports to China declined by 31.05% month on month in February 2024, compared to USD 245.169 million in January 2024, according to SBP data.
Overall, Pakistan’s exports to foreign nations increased by 10.15% in the first eight months, from USD 18.643 billion to USD 20.537 billion, according to SBP data.
Imports from China into the country during the months under consideration were USD 8.105 billion, up from USD 7.065 billion the previous year, representing a 14.72% increase in July-February (2023-24).
Year on year, imports from China increased by 90.63%, from USD 601.189 million in February 2023 to USD 1.146 billion in February 2024.
Imports from China into the country fell by 2.65% month on month in February 2024, compared to USD 1.177 billion in January 2024, according to the data. Overall imports into the country decreased by 8.76%, from USD 37.354 billion to USD 34.079 billion, according to the figures.
