Today, on April 15, the renowned Boston Marathon will see the participation of motivated competitors from all around the world, including a significant delegation from Pakistan. Dr. Salman Khan, a Pakistani-American marathon veteran and nephrologist, is preparing for his fourth consecutive Boston Marathon appearance, having qualified based on his outstanding performance at the Tokyo Marathon last year.
Khan is joined by Hamid Butt, a seasoned athlete with a stunning 6-star finish and three consecutive Boston Marathon appearances under his belt. Butt, originally from Lahore, now lives in the United States, exemplifying the event’s international appeal.
Notably, Pakistani representation includes women runners, with Dr. Bsherri Anjum, Sahar Halim, and Huma Rehman preparing to make their imprint on the Boston Marathon course. Sadiq Shah and Faisal Shafi from the Seaview Runners Club (SVRC) also contribute to the Pakistani presence. Shah, the first Pakistani under 40 to qualify for Boston, and Shafi, who is nearing the end of his storied 6 Star Finisher quest, add to the diverse and accomplished Pakistani contingent.
