Pakistan women’s cricket captain Fatima Sana has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Pakistani female cricketer to be selected in The Hundred Women’s Competition draft. The 24-year-old all-rounder was picked by Birmingham Phoenix in the tournament’s wildcard draft, marking a significant moment for Pakistan women’s cricket.
Fatima secured Birmingham Phoenix’s fourth overseas slot following the withdrawal of Lucy Hamilton and will earn a minimum salary of £15,000 (approximately PKR 5.6 million) under the deal.
Her selection comes shortly after a standout all-round performance against South Africa at Edgbaston, where she scored an unbeaten 55 runs from 38 balls and claimed impressive figures of 3 wickets for 16 runs. The performance further highlighted her growing reputation as one of Pakistan’s leading cricketers.
Although her participation in the competition could be affected by Pakistan’s scheduled tour of Sri Lanka, her selection in the draft remains a landmark achievement. It is the first time a Pakistani woman cricketer has been picked by a franchise in The Hundred, one of the world’s premier cricket tournaments.
Fatima’s selection also strengthens Pakistan’s representation in The Hundred 2026. She joins fellow Pakistani players Usman Tariq, selected by Birmingham Phoenix, and Abrar Ahmed, picked by Sunrisers Leeds, in the prestigious competition.
The milestone reflects the growing recognition of Pakistani women’s cricket on the international stage and serves as an inspiration for aspiring female athletes across the country.
