Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a cash prize of Rs. 10 million (one crore) for each player of the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team following their historic victory in the 2025 Asia Cup.
The announcement was made during a luncheon hosted by the Prime Minister in Islamabad to honor the young squad, which defeated arch-rivals India in the tournament final. Congratulating the players on their achievement, the Prime Minister described the win as a major milestone for Pakistan cricket.
“You young players have made history by defeating India,” the Prime Minister said while addressing the team. He added that the entire nation was proud of their performance and encouraged the players to continue bringing honour to the country through discipline and dedication.
Special praise was extended to standout performers Sameer Munhas and Ali Raza for their exceptional contributions during the tournament. The Prime Minister also conveyed his best wishes to the team for the upcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup, stating that the Asia Cup triumph should serve as a foundation for greater success on the global stage.
The Prime Minister lauded the efforts of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the team management, and support staff, noting that the convincing final victory reflected strong preparation, teamwork, and commitment.
“By winning the Asia Cup, the team has raised the national flag with pride,” he remarked.
Separately, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had earlier announced a cash reward of Rs. 5 million for each of the 15 members of the U19 squad following their victory in the final at the ICC Academy. The combined incentives aim to boost the morale of the young players ahead of the ICC Under-19 World Cup.
