Punjab Police Inspector Irum Khanum has made Pakistan proud by winning two gold medals at the World Powerlifting Championship 2025 held in Sri Lanka. Representing Rawalpindi Police, she secured first place in both the powerlifting and deadlift categories, delivering an exceptional performance against top international athletes.
Inspector Irum outperformed strong competitors, including India’s Sapna, to claim the top position and establish herself as one of the leading figures in international powerlifting. Her victory marks a major milestone not only for Punjab Police but also for women in sports across Pakistan.
The celebration extended further as Rawalpindi Police athletes continued to perform remarkably. Head Constable Majid Dogar won two gold medals in the Masters Three category, while Constable Azim Gujjar earned a silver medal in the Senior category, boosting the department’s overall medal tally.
Upon her return to Police Lines, Inspector Irum received a warm and emotional welcome from colleagues and officers who celebrated her achievement. CPO Khalid Hamdani praised her as a “bright star” of Punjab Police, saying she had brought honour to the department and the nation.
Adding to her accomplishments, Inspector Irum has also been invited to carry the Olympic torch, a global honour reserved for athletes who embody excellence, resilience, and sportsmanship.
Her achievements stand as a powerful inspiration for young athletes, especially women, proving once again that Pakistani talent continues to shine on the international stage.
