The Badaling section of the Great Wall of China transformed into a stunning runway as Pakistan and China hosted their first-ever joint fashion show, marking a historic milestone in cultural diplomacy. Jointly organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and the China International Cultural Communication Centre (CICCC), the event celebrated artistic collaboration and friendship through fashion and design.
Renowned Pakistani designers Maheen Khan, Moazzam Abbasi, Ayesha Tariq, Rizwanullah, and Zain Hashmi presented collections rich in ajrak motifs, floral embroidery, and handcrafted textiles, reflecting Pakistan’s vibrant heritage. From the Chinese side, designer Liang Suyun showcased an elegant couture lineup, while Aqeel Chaudhary, a Pakistani entrepreneur based in China, displayed a jewellery collection inspired by the aesthetic fusion of both cultures.
Set against the ancient stones of the Great Wall, models showcased a breathtaking blend of fabrics, colours, and craftsmanship — symbolizing the harmony of two textile traditions meeting on one iconic stage.
Speaking at the ceremony, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi described the event as the “living spirit of the ancient Silk Road,” noting its alignment with the 60th anniversary of President Ayub Khan’s historic visit to the same location. He emphasized that the showcase was not only cultural but also commercial, highlighting Pakistan’s growing fashion industry and its potential in the Chinese market.
CICCC Chairman Long Yuxiang lauded the fashion show as a testament to the “all-weather friendship” between the two nations, reaffirming China’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Pakistan’s creative and fashion sectors.
