Mari Petroleum Company Limited (PSX: MARI) has achieved success in drilling and testing its third horizontal development well, Mari-124H, located in the Habib Rahi Limestone (HRL) Reservoir within the Mari Gas Field in Daharki, Sindh Province. This update was communicated by the company to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday.
As part of the Mari Field Revitalization Project, the well’s primary objectives include efficient delivery pressure management, sustained gas production, and optimal recovery of reserves. These efforts aim to counteract the decline in production.
Mari-124H was drilled to a total measured depth of 1,740 meters, featuring a horizontal section spanning approximately 750 meters. Post-drilling, the well underwent testing, revealing a gas flow rate of around 17 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) at a wellhead pressure of 470 pounds per square inch gauge (psig).
Upon the release of the drilling rig, the well is slated for immediate regular production. Mari Petroleum, as the sole operator of the Mari Gas Field with a 100 percent working interest, is also exploring opportunities to drill additional horizontal wells in the future.
