Tetra Pak Pakistan, a leading provider of sustainable food processing and packaging solutions, has joined forces with WWF Pakistan for the sixth consecutive year to extend its nationwide awareness program. The initiative is designed to educate young Pakistani students on the significance of reducing, reusing, and recycling.
This year, the student engagement drive will span 50 schools in major cities such as Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad. Over 10,000 students aged 5 to 13 years, studying in grades 1 to 7, will benefit from this experience-based learning initiative.
Volkan Aydeniz, Sustainability Director at Tetra Pak, officially launched the student engagement program in collaboration with WWF training executives. The team has already conducted approximately 18 recycling awareness sessions, involving over 1700 students from 17 schools in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, rapidly progressing toward the campaign’s target. Both private and government schools are part of this effort, with a total of 120 sessions planned.
The program employs visual aids, including educational animation videos, engaging storytelling sessions, interactive group activities such as arts and crafts, and hands-on experiences creating useful items from recycled Tetra Pak cartons. These activities aim to help students grasp the importance of real-world challenges like environmental conservation, waste reduction, material reuse, and waste recycling.
The initiative seeks to make sustainability and recycling an exciting and memorable learning experience for young minds while underscoring Tetra Pak’s strong commitment to promoting sustainability.
As a token of participation, all students will receive an activity book, and this year, they will have the chance to participate in a carton collection and recycling competition. As a novel addition to this year’s campaign, students will actively engage in collecting Used Beverage Carton (UBC) waste, fostering a sense of responsibility towards recycling. The collected cartons will be donated for further processing, contributing to a sustainable and circular approach to packaging.
This Recycling Awareness Campaign reflects Tetra Pak’s ongoing dedication to environmental stewardship and WWF’s commitment to building a future where humans and nature thrive together.
Through education and action, the campaign aims to instill a sense of responsibility and environmental consciousness in the younger generation, fostering a sustainable mindset from an early age.
