In an electrifying performance, Fakhar Zaman equaled former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi’s record for the most sixes in a single one-day international (ODI) innings during Pakistan’s World Cup match against New Zealand.
Afridi’s record of 11 sixes, set in 1996 against Sri Lanka, was matched by Zaman, with Abdul Razzaq’s 10 sixes closely trailing in 2010. Zaman also achieved the same feat with 10 sixes against South Africa in 2021.
Furthermore, he earned the distinction of scoring the fastest century in a World Cup for Pakistan, reaching 100 runs in just 63 balls with an impressive strike rate of 157.81.
The match, where Zaman amassed a total of 126 runs at a strike rate of 155.55, was ultimately called off due to rain, resulting in Pakistan being declared the winner. This 21-run victory revitalized Babar Azam’s team’s World Cup campaign, as the match was a crucial must-win game for Pakistan.
