The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) is undertaking a project to modernize the city’s infrastructure by digitizing public parking fees in the federal capital. This initiative will introduce a parking management information system to streamline payment methods for citizens.
The DMA department has invited expressions of interest from fintech and technology solution providers. Initially, the project will focus on popular locations in Islamabad, including F-9 Park, Lake View, Centaurus Parking facility, G-9 Public Transport, Kohsar Market, and two plazas in F-7.
The parking management system will be established through a public-private partnership, with a private company installing the entire system under a revenue-sharing model.
Importantly, the parking fees for bikes and cars will remain unchanged at Rs. 30 and Rs. 50, respectively, in accordance with MCI’s existing rates.
The project’s next phase will involve digitizing additional areas of the city. DMA previously attempted to auction the collection of F-9 parking fees, but no companies expressed interest in the auction.
