Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), offered his congratulations to Karachi Whites for their remarkable victory in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24.
This congratulatory meeting took place at the Pakistan cricket headquarters in Lahore and included the team’s captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and star bowler, Shahnawaz Dahani.
Karachi Whites secured their fifth Quaid-e-Azam Trophy title with a dominant 456-run victory over Faisalabad in the tournament’s final match at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. The PCB issued an official statement applauding Sarfaraz Ahmed’s leadership and acknowledging Shahnawaz Dahani’s outstanding performance.
During the meeting, Ashraf emphasized the PCB’s ongoing commitment to player welfare and regional cricket development.
This historic win marked Karachi Whites’ fifth Quaid-e-Azam Trophy victory, with their previous triumph in the 2001-02 season against Peshawar. In the early ’90s, they achieved a remarkable hat-trick of titles in the 1990-91, 1991-92, and 1992-93 seasons.
Saim Ayub, recognized for his outstanding innings of 203 and 109 in the final match, was honored as the player of the final. Sarfaraz Ahmed, who played a pivotal role with 697 runs and 28 dismissals, was named the player of the tournament.
Khurram Shahzad from Faisalabad, who claimed 36 wickets in eight matches, was awarded the title of the best bowler, and Ali Shan, who took 28 catches and executed one stumping, was declared the best wicket-keeper of the tournament.
