Haider Ali’s remarkable achievement at the ongoing Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, is truly impressive. He secured a gold medal in the Discus Throw event, with a stunning throw of 51.23 meters on his fourth attempt. Japan’s Yamato Shimbo claimed the silver, and China’s Zhang Xuelong took home the bronze.
What’s even more extraordinary is that Haider not only won gold but also earned his place in the Paris 2024 Paralympics by consistently surpassing the minimum entry standard of 39 meters. All six of his throws during the competition exceeded this mark.
It’s worth highlighting that Haider Ali previously made history by winning Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in Discus Throw at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. His success in para-sports extends beyond Discus Throw, with silver and bronze medals in the Long Jump event during the 2008 and 2016 Paralympics.
He is undeniably one of Pakistan’s most exceptional para-athletes, having earned a total of six medals in various events at the Asian Para Games, including Javelin Throw, Discus Throw, 100m, and Long Jump.
