Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have solidified their commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation in the Information Technology sector, particularly in the domains of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy.
This consensus emerged during a meeting between Dr. Umar Saif, the Caretaker Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication of Pakistan, and Omar Sultan Al Olama, the UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications. The meeting transpired in Dubai as part of GITEX 2023.
Dr. Umar Saif emphasized Pakistan’s substantial technological potential, underlining the large number of IT graduates produced by Pakistani universities and the thriving startup ecosystem. He praised GITEX as an excellent platform for exhibitors to engage with industry leaders, explore business opportunities, and stay updated on global developments.
Omar Sultan Al Olama expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s active participation in GITEX Global 2023. Both parties have decided to formalize their commitment through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Government Excellence Excellence Program (GEEP), with the objective of elevating government performance. This collaboration highlights the significance of technology and innovation in the ongoing partnership between Pakistan and the UAE.
