Interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has issued instructions to lower the prices of essential goods and services in response to the recent reduction in petroleum prices that occurred on Sunday.
He took to Twitter to express his directive, stating, “Given the significant drop in fuel prices, I have instructed the relevant authorities at both the Federal and Provincial levels to enforce a stringent price control mechanism.”
He further urged all honorable Chief Ministers to ensure that the prices of essential commodities and services are decreased accordingly, with a primary focus on passing on the benefits of the reduced petroleum prices to the people of Pakistan. He emphasized the need for rigorous implementation of these measures.
The interim PM was referring to the unexpected drop in fuel prices on Sunday, which was a result of a decline in international oil prices and the strengthening of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar.
It’s worth noting that the business community has shown appreciation for the government’s decision to reduce the prices of petroleum products by a historic Rs. 40 per liter for petrol.
As a result of this reduction, the new price of petrol now stands at Rs. 283.38 after a decrease of Rs. 40 per liter, while the new price of high-speed diesel has been set at Rs. 303.18 after a reduction of Rs. 15 per liter.
